David Dai builds quiet software

Independent developer. I build offline-first apps for people who live across languages and borders.

Local-first tools, on-device translation, and small focused products that respect your attention and keep your data on your own machine.

About

Who I am, and the kind of software I care about.

I'm a solo developer working at the intersection of language, translation, and cross-border life. Most of my products are local-first — they run on your machine, keep your data private, and work even when the network doesn't.

I like small surfaces with sharp opinions: a subtitle that appears the moment someone speaks, a currency ledger that feels like a paper notebook, a visa tracker that just quietly reminds you before a deadline slips.

No startup theatre. Just useful things, shipped.
